Jahan came across the graves of Amir, Mian and Gulab in the summer of 2008, whilst developing a series of workshops around British Muslim Identity.
‘Our Forgotten Heroes by Jahan Mahmood’ Jahan Mahmood is a Birmingham based historian and researcher; he currently works as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. Jahan has been conducting seminars for young Muslims around Britishness since 2005; he is very active in youth and community related work and has a wealth of knowledge about the heritage and religious persuasion of Britain’s Muslim communities. Jahan has pioneered a number of workshops tackling radicalism and aiding the construction of a British Muslim identity. His work has proved to be enormously successful in the city of Birmingham and he continues to work alongside many local authorities and youth organisations. He is currently involved in projects with, Ashram Housing, University of Oxford, Royal Miltary Academy Sandhurst, Connected histories Birmingham City Council, Youth Offending Team, Youth Inclusion Project, Foreign Commonwealth Office and several local voluntary organisations.
